Katie Layne Quackenbush is facing an attempted murder after shooting a homeless man, 54-year-old Gerald Melton on August 26. Melton is still in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Detectives revealed that Melton was trying to sleep on the sidewalk when Quackenbush pulled up in her Porsche. The fumes and loud music coming from her car were disturbing him, so he asked her to move. This all occurred at around 3am.

Allegedly, the pair got into a dispute and Melton eventually returned to his spot on the sidewalk. However, Quackenbush got out of her vehicle, armed with a gun and pointed it at him. The pair argued once again and Quackenbush shot Melton twice in the stomach.

Quackenbush's father, Jesse, has claimed that this story simply isn't true, stating that Melton was threatening to kill his daughter, who was just trying to defend herself.

“She didn’t try to kill this guy,” Jesse said. “She had no intention of killing him. She didn’t know she hit him.”

Melton was rushed to hospital in critical condition but is gradually making a recovery. Meanwhile, Quackenbush will have a chance to defend herself in court.
