The truth is that these are coyotes suffering from mange, a disease which affects many canines and creates painful sores and dryness all over the body.
Mange is very contagious among animals and can even affect humans in certain cases.
The Hanover Park Police Department has warned folks to stay as far away from these animals as possible if they see them.
Folks in the are also encouraged to keep their pets indoors as much as possible and close all doors as mange-stricken coyotes have been known to scavenge for food in houses and neighborhoods.
If you do see an animal like this, contact a local wildlife officer or simply call the police. They'll be able to handle the situation.
